Why CGM matters for your pharmacy

More and more people with diabetes measure their glucose continuously instead of only at single points in time. The pharmacy is often their first point of contact for questions about application, sensor changes and skin tolerance.

What is the difference between CGM and conventional blood glucose testing?
A blood glucose meter (BGM) provides a single reading from capillary blood. A CGM measures continuously in the tissue and shows a value every 3 minutes along with the trend – without regular finger pricks.
Where is the sensor worn and how long does it last?
On the abdomen or the back of the upper arm, for up to 14 days. The transmitter is then placed on the new sensor; a 30-minute charge lasts for 14 days.
What should be done in case of skin irritation or if the sensor comes loose?
Clean the skin before applying and let it dry completely; rotate the application site regularly. If irritation persists, remove the sensor and seek medical advice. [Add overpatch note if applicable]
Which smartphones are supported?
Connect CGM connects to the app on your smartphone via Bluetooth. System requirements:
  • iOS 13 or later
  • Android 7 or later
  • Bluetooth 4.0 or higher
Further details can be found in the user manual.
